Singing songs and reciting poems and rhymes helps children develop early literacy skills. Keeping a steady beat develops language. Clapping hands, stamping feet, and using rhythm instruments in line with music develops important pre-reading skills. Young children recognize words, sounds, rhythms, tones, and pitches long before they talk, sing, or dance. So, the more music your children have in their lives, the better they will speak and read.

They are covered over 240 ours. Students must choose one subject from each of groups 1 to 5, thus ensuring breadth of experience in languages, Humanities, Sciences and Mathematics. The sixth subject may be an Arts subject chosen from group 6, or the student may choose another subject from group 3 or 4.

Students who hope to be admitted into an Indian Medical School may choose to study all 3 sciences, and drop all subjects from Group 3. This would be a non-regular diploma, accepted by the IBO.

In addition, the programme has three core requirements that broaden the educational experience: Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. The Extended Essay is a requirement for students to engage in independent research through an in-depth study of a question related to an area of study or deep personal interest. Theory of Knowledge is a course designed to encourage each student to reflect on the nature of knowledge by critically examining different ways of knowing (perception, emotion, language and reason) and different kinds of knowledge (scientific, artistic, mathematical and historical). Creativity, Activity & Service require that students actively learn from the experience of doing real tasks beyond the classroom. Students can combine all three components or participate in activities related to each one of them separately.

Students take written examinations at the end of the programme, which are graded by external IB examiners. Students also complete internal assessment tasks in the school, which are either initially graded by teachers and then moderated by external moderators, or sent directly to external examiners. The diploma is awarded to students who gain at least 24 points [conditions apply]. The highest total that a Diploma Programme student can be awarded is 45 points.

Since 1989, CHIREC has offered children engaging programs that stimulate their minds and help them develop into balanced, inquisitive, and caring individuals. Our Day Care is open from 8 AM to 6:30 PM every weekday, for students from the ages of 2 to 10.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

Students are given worksheets that supplement their regular class material. These worksheets are designed to encourage students to cultivate a culture of inquiry, thereby sharpening their critical thinking skills. Students are given small projects to complete, and in the process they generate their own questions according to their curiosities or interests, which they then investigate.

Agility and Adaptability

Students are engaged in fun games which help them develop their agility and physical skills. Students also participate in creative activities, which improves their hand-eye coordination.

Effective Communication and Collaboration

Almost all children learn the rules of their language at an early age through regular use. Encouraging group games and activities, especially amongst students of different age groups, not only teaches students how to effectively communicate with their peers, but also nurtures collaboration and discussion.

Integrating Technology with Curiosity and Imagination

We have integrated technology into the day care program by tapping into students’ interests and strengthening their technical skills, all while providing enriching learning opportunities. To promote creativity, and to encourage them to be comfortable around technology, students are encouraged to occupy themselves with theme based audio-visuals and multimedia programs. A monthly report is sent to all students in the day care.
